Originally composed for a dance troupe, Nagual sounds great as an album on it's own. The first track is just bleeps and buzzes, not so interesting; but the rest of the album is very good and more lively then usual (not always dark and oppressive like Hathor or Logos for example). A lot of delay is used throughout the album and it makes the whole thing sound quite psychedelic in parts (check out Spenta Aramati). There are many tracks played on the piano and they really stand out from the rest of the album (Beginning Of Peter's Journey is my personal favorite, but Never Poem For The Other and Stop The World are also quite nice). New age warning: two tracks on this album venture dangerously close to the cheesy side of electronic music, see if you can spot them. Other great tracks include Sets, a short but grating drone piece, and Hunahpuguch which is basically tribal drums and delay. |
