The Wicked It
As far as Sunburned Hand Of The Man side-projects go, The Wicked It is definitely one of the oddest of the bunch. It is actually a solo Chad Cooper project of him mostly remixing existing Sunburned material (although there is some original material here as well). He'll loop some samples, manipulate the sound, add a whole bunch of stuff, but it's far from the DJ set you might expect. Actually, The Wicked It's sound is not too far stretched from the usual work by the collective and is definitely as enjoyable, but with a pronounced creepy vibe (some tracks could easily be compared to early Butthole Surfers at their most demented, I also hear some hints of The Residents and Brainticket here as well). A lot of the fun lies in trying to identify the original Sunburned tracks and figuring out which ones are new. I doubt this project will leave a huge mark and I have a feeling this will be a one-time only project, but who knows; time might prove me wrong, it's still definitely worth hearing for any fans of absolutely schizophrenic music.
