If it wasn't for this release, the whole Wolf Eyes phenomenon would have passed me by unnoticed, but thanks to the good people at emusic.com, who kicked me out for downloading too much, I got my first taste of the wolfies. The first track, Dead Hills, gave me the impression a lot of people get: that Wolf Eyes were another "industrial" band. It sure sounded like the insides of a desolate industrial building from a time gone by... with a psychedelic touch... and with someone getting mangled in the machines towards the end. Then came Dead Hills 2. The music isn't much different here, but when the vocals get sicker and sicker at the two minute mark, I was left a bloody and twitching mass on the floor. What a mess! Rotten Tropics is similar, but never quite as noisy. When all is over, twenty-five minutes have passed, but you can't seem to be able to move anymore.
