No, I am not an expert at Xenakis' work, but this edition of Kraanerg (I know there are at least two different ones that were released on CD) sounds very good to these ears. The work is composed for an orchestra and 4-track tape. The tonal styling of the orchestra and the tape manipulations are supposed to be the same, but I personally couldn't tell just from hearing. The symphonic passages remind me of Hermann Nitsch's work at times, mostly during the more atonal and bombastic parts. The tape manipulation sounds incredible to me: deep rumblings with subtle shifts in tone which sometimes accompany the live instrumentation. it all sounds very imposing and might cause you to step back in front of it's magnitude! The title (in french) also mentions this was a work for a ballet (I would love to see people dancing to this).
