Album Cover

Released by the band when they were known as Father Yod And The Spirit of '76, this is the first known album by this hippy-religious commune. It is named after the comet which was visible in the Earth's sky around the time of the album's release. The CD release in the Captain Trip box set was taken directly from the scratchy LP which makes the sound very lo-fi, you can hear every hiss, crackle and pop. The album is split into two side-long tracks (simply titled Side A & B) of psychedelic ranting about space and it's creator. The fuzzy guitars and delay effects sound quite amateurish and over the top. And then there is the Yod-man's own singing. He is, most of the time, singing off-key in a loud vibrato voice which often breaks up when he can't reach certain notes. There is an obvious Jim Morrisson influence in his delivery. Unbearable to some, a most fun listen for others.
