Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Can't say I know much about this band. All I know is that I like it! I remember seeing the CD in stores but never paid much attention to it. I had friends who had told me about them, but I always shrugged them off (I have to admit the name put me off also). But then one day at a somewhat boring friendly get together, MTV was on in the background it was kind of late and the video for Pin started playing. "Whamp pop pop pop pop pop pop pop... Tuh-duh, tuh-duh... Tuh-duh, tuh-duh..." was all that was needed to make me want to hear more. But it would take a while before I did it, you know, with all the other stuff I wanted to buy before this. I then heard the video for Maps and I thought it was another great song so I went ahead and downloaded the songs from the album. They've been on my iPod ever since. I only recently bought the actual CD when I found it new for under ten bucks in a local store.
This, to me, is a great high-energy pop band. They've created the best noise-rock anthems since the Pixies and if their next two or three releases are to be like this, they could easily be on par with these Boston alternative rock legends.
